Those who love the game will tell you: basketball is not only a sport, but also a way of life. From style to music, basketball has always influenced what’s cool and what’s trending in popular culture.

3x3 basketball is no different. The sped-up version is played in an urban space over 10 minutes on a half-court with no half-time, and features heart-pumping music to keep energy levels high. And at the upcoming FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2023, which takes place from 29 March to 2 April at OCBC Square, the event will include a festival component — with the fun and exhilaration extending beyond the playing area.

Here's what you can expect at the highly anticipated tournament:

COURTSIDE TREATS
If your tummy starts to rumble in the middle of a game, you won’t have to go far to find scrumptious food. The Formosa Food Festival, which takes place on the same week as the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2023, features 17 stalls selling snacks and beverages.

While the pros get their game on, we bring fun challenges to you! Test your skills on court or put your 3x3 knowledge to the test and compete for a chance to win incredible prizes worth close to $40,000 from EVA Air and OSIM!

Giveaways are only happening during the first 3 days of competition from 29 to 31 March. So, be sure to get your tickets now!

SPORTING ACTION
The main highlight, of course, is the prospect of highly physical, lightning-paced basketball from the teams participating in FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup. Make no mistake, this is a big tournament: last year, 51 teams from 29 countries duked it out over five days in front of 4,000 spectators, with an estimated digital outreach of 35 million.

Upping the ante in 2023 is the lure of Olympic gold, as the winning men and women’s teams will score a spot at an Olympic Qualifying Tournament ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Round up your friends and get your tickets for FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2023, where everyone’s welcome to feel like a baller.

PICK UP THE GAME
If you’ve only ever played the traditional five-by-five game – or have been steering clear of the basketball court altogether – it’s easy to learn the fast-growing urban team sport of 3x3 basketball.

  • Check out the FIBA 3X3 website, which has the official rules of the game, as well as a useful player guide.
  • For some on-court guidance, you can sign your kids up for a programme with the ActiveSG Basketball Academy – which organised a 3x3 Basketball Academy League in 2022 — or with private organisations such as SG Basketball.
  • For competitive play, the Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) organises men and women’s 3x3 open tournaments such as the BAS 3x3 Open 2022. It also collaborated with SportSG last December for the Sports Hub 3x3 Basketball Cup.
