Whether you’re a baby boomer, a millennial, or belong to Gen Z, the Singapore Indoor Stadium will be a familiar place to you.

For over three decades now, the Singapore Indoor Stadium has hosted many major sporting, cultural, entertainment and social events, showcasing its impressive versatility. It has been featured on the global map with world-renowned sports events such as the inaugural Summer Youth Olympics, the World Netball Championships, and the prestigious season-ending WTA Finals (2014-2018). It has also been the choice venue for concerts by a variety of megastars in the likes of Big Bang, Metallica, Coldplay, Jay Chou and most recently, the king of mandopop Jacky Cheung who performed a record number of 11 shows here.

It is no wonder that it has developed its reputation as a premier venue in the region. With a capacity of up to 12,000, the multi-purpose pillarless venue ensures excellent sightlines, offering a clear view from every seat. With top-notch facilities, the venue maintains the integrity and quality of some of the best voices in the world. Eventgoers have also complimented the well-maintained restrooms and amenities, alongside the convenient access to food and beverage options before shows.

Steeped in history
The Singapore Indoor Stadium, which occupies a total site area of 54,178 square metres, was designed by late Japanese architect Kenzō Tange, a well-regarded talent in the industry and winner of the Pritzker Prize Architecture. The man behind the Tokyo Olympic  arenas applied the fusion of traditional Japanese modernist techniques to the Stadium, visible in its most defining feature – the curved, upturned roof typical of Chinese temples. The roof stands at 45 metres tall at its highest point and was raised using the Pantadome system that involved 24 hydraulic hoisting jacks.

Construction of the Singapore Indoor Stadium as it appears today commenced on 1 January 1985, and cost S$90 million to build. Upon completion, then Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, officially declared it open on 31 December 1989

Continuous improvement
The facilities and infrastructure have been progressively upgraded to ensure that the Singapore Indoor Stadium stands worthy as a leading choice for event and concert organisers. Its ability to deliver events such as the annual Singapore Open (badminton), contemporary music acts like Elton John and Taylor Swift,  as well as the first-ever indoor Chingay festival in 1997, is an irrefutable testament to its world-class facilities.

The patron’s experience is completed with seamless back-of-house services, invisible to the public eye. The venue managers and back-end staff work tirelessly to ensure the user-experience is impeccable on- and off-line. Guests are provided with assurance that the venue is reset and primed for use over repeated evenings. Concert-goers who attended Jacky Cheung's epic series of 11 nights at the Singapore Indoor Stadium shared feedback that they had a smooth and enjoyable experience, with no trace that multiple sessions had taken place in the same venue. Even though Covid-19 put a halt to live events for almost two years, the Singapore Indoor Stadium sprung back up quickly after measures were eased and it was safe to resume activities again. In 2022, the UFC 275 andthe International Dota 2 Championships welcomed fans back to the Stadium.

The clockwork never stops and there are exciting events planned for the rest of 2023. The Singapore Indoor Stadium will transform into a world class sporting arena for the upcoming ONE Fight Night 14, FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2023 and the 14th Women’s World Floorball Championships 2023.
